FIRST-AID MEASURES

Inhalation: Move to fresh air if exposed to fumes from burning fuel. Symptoms may include dizziness, irritation, and nausea.
Skin Contact: Wash with soap and water if fuel contacts skin
Eye Contact: Rinse with water if fuel splashes into eyes; seek medical attention if irritation persists
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting; seek immediate medical attention if methylated spirits are swallowed. Symptoms may include dizziness, irritation, and nausea.
Burns: For a minor burn, run cool water over it for 10–15 minutes, then pat dry and apply aloe vera or a mild lotion. Cover with a sterile bandage or cling film and avoid popping blisters. Seek medical help for severe burns. Avoid using ice, as it can worsen the injury


FIRE SAFETY

  • Keep flammable materials (paper, cloth, alcohol, etc.) away from the burner.
  • Always use the burner on a heat-resistant, stable surface.
  • If a small fire occurs use alcohol-resistant foam and protective equipment
  • If a Larger Fire – Evacuate the area and call emergency services
  • What to use if it catches fire? CO2, dry chemical, or foam extinguisher.
  • What NOT to use? Water on hot wax—it can splatter!

CLEANUP, STORAGE & DISPOSAL

Environmental Precautions: Prevent fuel from entering drains or water sources
Cleanup: Absorb spills with inert material and dispose of per local regulations

Storage:

  • Keep fuel in a tightly sealed container (fuel not included)
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and ignition sources

Disposal: 

  • Recycle wood components
  • Dispose of brass elements per local waste regulations
  • Methylated spirits (if used) should not be released into water systems, dispose of unused fuel in accordance with hazardous waste guidelines.

USING IT SAFELY

  • Handle with clean, dry hands
  • Keep spirit burner closed when not in use
  • Do not refill burner near open flames
  • Use only in a well-ventilated area
  • Keep fuel source sealed when not in use
  • Never leave an open flame unattended

 

SAFETY WARNING – Wax (all variations)

We must address risks of burns with the use of sealing wax and the tools used to melt it. Melted wax is very hot, and will burn skin if touched or dripped on. The items we sell to heat wax will get hot, and can burn.

How to Use the Deluxe Wax Seal Set

1. Preparing the Spirit Burner

⚠ Caution: The spirit burner contains no fuel and must be filled with methylated spirits before use.

  • To open the cap: Unscrew anti-clockwise.
  • To refill with fuel: Unscrew clockwise and carefully fill using a small syringe.
  • Close securely before lighting.

2. Melting the Wax

  • Place a small amount of sealing wax into the melting spoon.
  • Light the spirit burner using a match or lighter.
  • Hold the melting spoon over the flame until the wax liquefies.

3. Pouring & Stamping

  • Carefully pour the melted wax onto the desired surface.
  • Press a chilled wax seal stamp firmly into the wax.
  • Hold for a few seconds, then gently lift to reveal the seal.

4. Storing & Safety Notes

  • Always extinguish the flame after use and allow the metal components to cool.
  • Use only on a heat-resistant surface and keep away from flammable objects.
  • The spirit burner should be handled only by a responsible adult.
